Returns & Refund Policy

Turo's refund policies cover various scenarios related to cancellations, host no-shows, trip changes, security deposits, and refunds from hosts. If a host cancels, doesn't show up, or in rare instances where Turo cancels a trip, a full refund is issued. For trip changes resulting in a lower cost, the system automatically refunds the difference, but if the host ignores or declines the change request, the trip and cost remain as originally booked.

Security deposits are fully refunded based on meeting specific criteria. Guests can request reimbursements or refunds from hosts for agreed-upon inconveniences or expenses. To initiate this process, contact the host to obtain written agreement in Turo messaging. Once agreed, contact Turo support. If the host's agreement is visible in Turo messaging, the support agent will use the host's funds for reimbursement. However, costs like refueling, paying tickets, tolls, or policy violations are not eligible for reimbursement from hosts.

Cancellation Policy

Within the free cancellation period, which spans 24 hours before the trip starts or one hour after booking for reservations made less than 25 hours in advance, a full refund is granted when canceling through the Turo app.

The cancellation period aligns with the vehicle's time zone, and any changes to the trip still adhere to the original booking time. For cancellations outside the free period, reimbursement varies based on trip length. Trips two days or shorter receive a refund minus half of one day's average cost, while longer trips receive a refund minus the average of one day's cost. Protection plans, Extras, and young driver fees are fully refunded in all cases.

For "book instantly" trips canceled within 40 hours of booking, there's no refund, as the charge authorization is released without processing. Cancellations due to unclean or unsafe vehicles are eligible for a full refund if the renter rejects the vehicle, doesn't check in, and promptly contacts Turo. Exceptions to refund amounts may apply in specific circumstances like flight delays, cancellations, lost baggage, safety concerns related to vehicle cleanliness, or other extenuating situations.

Loyalty Bonus

Turo's Loyalty Bonus program enables users to earn rewards by booking and completing 10 travel days within a 180-day period. The bonus, provided as a promo code, is calculated based on the average daily price paid for the initial 10 days, excluding fees. Users can track their progress on the Turo app, and if the bonus’s requirements aren’t fulfilled and earned within 180 days, they have another 180 days to do so starting from their next trip. A single trip lasting 10 days or more is automatically awarded the bonus. Upon completing the required days, users receive an email with a promo code, valid for a discount on their next trip, which expires after 180 days.
